Don Haddock has been playing and writing songs since he was 15 years old. Originally from San Diego, Ca., He grew up playing Rock and Roll in a 3 piece power group. He took a break from music to try and make a career as a professional baseball player. By the age of 28 he knew he had gone as far as he could with baseball and got back into writing and playing music again. He joined a Bluegrass band as a rhythm guitar player and vocalist and performed throughout San Diego County for about 5 years. He later moved to Orange County for a job and to raise a family. It was here he started playing and writing Country Music and eventually started a band called "Free Reign". Free Reign played all the Honky Tonks and local bars in Southern California for about 8 years. The band was nominated for country band of the year, and Don Haddock was individually nominated for "songwriter of the year".
Today, Don haddock's music is being performed exclusively by "THE TRAMP IRON RAILROAD. The band went into the studio in May to record their 1st album which was released by Christmas 2013. It's been rude of me to have waited so long to share the good News. In 2016 me and my Band mates the Tramp Iron Railroad were fortunate enough to win Best Live Performance in the Country Category here at IMC. We were so happy to be acknowledged in the category we love best "LIVE MUSIC!!!
This year is going to be different. In June 2016 our Drummer Garth Jacobs passed away unexpectedly. 2 weeks before that I took a bad fall and Broke my Shoulder. The result of these incidents have stopped our Live performing, and we are focused on recording in the Studio for all of 2017/18 to finish what will be our 3rd Album. I posted 3 of the songs that will eventually be on that new album/CD. I hope you'll give a listen!!
FYI...The song "Gravity" that I put on my IMC Playlist was selected in the Folk/Americana/Bluegrass category as "SONG OF THE YEAR" by the Josie Show in Nashville Tennessee. We recieved the Award in September 2016!!
