Vietnam Vet Radio really added a lot to our classes on the Vietnam War over the past two days. Inviting them into the classroom over the air added a unique aspect that supported the readings from the text book. For each class period, Bennie Blount called our class to attention and then he played a specially selected song for us. Our Cadets then analyzed the lyrics and how the songs illustrated the experience of the Soldier and the Veteran. For our final song, we played Elvis Carden's "Lay Me Down (Draped in the Red White and Blue). We then called Elvis and he talked with the Cadets over speaker phone about his experiences in Vietnam and his motivation for writing the song. All in all, an unforgettable experience! Thank you!
