Bio:
Through his songs M Callahan tells you in simple words about life as experienced through his eyes.

His early years were surrounded by endless pine trees and the red clay river banks of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Born into a blue collar working class family, he was brought up on solid core values. He recalls, "There isn’t a time I remember my Old Man not extending out a firm hand shake and looking a person straight in the eyes."

With his father's influence, he was fed a steady diet of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers. And those early days and nights where spent listening, laughing and singing to the country classics.

This time inspired him to learn to play guitar on his father's solid maple Alvarez acoustic. He said, “being on the shy side, songwriting was the perfect way for me to express what I wanted to say." In his younger days, he spent hours trying to find his own musical voice.

After high school, he continued looking for ways to grow as an artist, and the great state of Texas awaited him with open arms -- what better city in which to spread his wings than Austin! With the experience from other bands and some album projects under his belt, M had enough material to start playing down in Austin. He quickly assimilated into the local music scene and found a job interning with Blevins Entertainment managing the “Meat Puppets” on Atlantic Records.

Callahan's work in Austin eventually led him to move to the vast oil city of Houston, where he formed the band “Work Horse” with local Texas singer-songwriter Justin Van Sant (JVS Band). The band hit the Gulf Coast region and cut its teeth on the local circuit, playing anywhere from the smokiest dive bars to some of the states biggest events, such as the Houston Rodeo. During this time, Callahan further developed his technique, drawing upon the unique styles of Texan songwriters, such as Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earl, Charlie Robison, Lyle Lovett, Kevin Fowler, and Pat Green.

Music had always been in his soul, guiding him through his spiritual journey; and music finally led Callahan to Nashville, Tennessee.

Nashville, home to country music, quickly became home to Callahan. ("When I arrived in Nashville I already felt like a success…it was a long road to get here") Within the first six months of moving to Music City, he was spotted by casting agent Jaz Dorsey at a local song writers' night on Music Row, downtown Nashville. The following weekend, he auditioned for and landed the leading male role in the musical “One Kiss Cafe," which debuted at the Country Music Hall Of Fame.

Hitting the pavement non-stop, Callahan continued performing, co-writing, recording and demo singing, which led him to work with producer/songwriter Michael Hunter Ochs (Dove Award, Eric Heatherly, Josh Groban, Kim Caldwell, Natalie Grant, X-Factor). Callahan and Ochs are currently in the studio finishing up his second album release. The completion of this album will give the listeners a rare glimpse into the heart of a genuine man expressing what he believes in, what he has learned, and what he has felt throughout life's journeys.
