Bio:
Dale Edward Chung, Latin Grammy winner, singer, actor, musician, performer proudly representing the AAPI community, is a fifth generation Chinese American. His family arrived in Monterey California in the late 1860's. His ancestors are one of the founding Chinese families in the Monterey Bay Area.  The story of his pioneering family includes his Aunt Maggie Gee, who was one of two Chinese American women to fly for the United States Military in World War II.  She was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2011 as a member of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) and in 2020 she was posthumously awarded a second for her service as a Chinese American Veteran in WWII.

Dale was born and raised in Berkeley and Oakland,California and now resides in Los Angeles.  He got his professional musical start in the San Francisco Acid Jazz scene in the mid 1990's. Performing in clubs almost every night, performing on local TV and radio and appearing on, and producing several albums.

Along with the Latin Grammy, he won an Indie Music Channel Award for Best R&B Producer (D. Edward 2015) and the Oakland Indie Mayhem People's Choice Award (D. Edward 2015). He's also been nominated for 2 Hollywood Music in Media Awards (D. Edward 2015 & 2016) and an Oakland Indie Award (D. Edward 2015).
   
You can hear him playing congas on the 2019 Billboard Top 10 Dance Chart hit, Taylor Swift - Me (The Robert Eibach Remix). He is also the resident percussionist for the Ultimate Jam Night shows at the Whisky A Go Go.

He was member of the legendary R&B/Funk group, Con Funk Shun (2003-2016) touring the world, performing in stadiums, arenas and on the 2015 Billboard Top 40 charting album "More Than Love".    
As a solo artist, he’s performed alongside Leela James, Loose Ends, Fantastic Negrito and has performed at notable venues such as Slim's SF, Hotel Café LA, Sundays in the Redwoods Woodminster Amphitheater Oakland, Underground Music Showcase (UMS) Denver, Club Fox Redwood City CA, Room 5 LA, Kulak's North Hollywood, The Jackalope (SXSW) Austin TX, The Soiled Dove Underground Denver, Ashkenaz Berkeley, The Hotel Utah SF.

He has recorded and/or performed with DJs Jay-J, Julius Papp, Robert Eibach, Bobby Kimball and Steve Lukather of Toto, R&B recording artists Case, Samuelle (Club Nouveau), Michael Cooper, Janelle Monáe, Saxophonist Katja Rieckermann (Rod Stewart), Grammy Winners Lucy Kalantari, The Lucky Band, Steffen Kuehn,  & Laura Sullivan.
    
His first solo album, Little Red Box, gained radio airplay around the USA.  His song "Truly" broke the Top 20 of the FMQB Adult Contemporary Chart and remained on the chart for almost a year.    
His second album, "Love Is", features an outstanding group of musicians and vocalists including Grammy & Billboard Music Award winners.

His music video, “Love Is”, premiered on Magic Johnson's Aspire TV Network and the second, "Show Me (featuring Jenna Lavoie)", was selected by MTV & Vh1 for their online format.      
His music under the moniker "D. Edward", can be heard on Pandora, iHeart Radio, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Spotify radio among others.

This year (2022) marks a new beginning as a solo music artist.  He is rebranding from D. Edward to Dale Edward Chung with his first single "It's Over" set for release April 13, 2022.

He’s a voting member of the Recording Academy (NARAS)(The Grammy organization) and currently serves on the Advocacy Committee for the Los Angeles Chapter, working with the membership and Congress to create laws to protect music creators through education and meetings with members of Congress both locally and in Washington DC.  He's also on the Artist Committee of the David Z Foundation, a non profit that raises money for music education for underrepresented kids and schools. He has previously served on the Boards of the Keep Music Rockin’ Foundation and FilAm Creative.
