Being that Mozambique was under Portuguese rulership in his young days a lot of the music was European or American - but besides that Sufiano also listened to a lot of Brasilian Music plus some African of course since he was born in Mozambique.
Music has always been a major part of Sufianos identity - he has been listening and plying music all of his life.
In the teen years Sufiano moved to Denmark where he became a well known caracter in the Copenhagen City night life for many years - touring all the dance and clubs in the city.
Around 2000 Sufiano discovered that he had a talent for writing music and not just playing his guitar so he ventured into a project to write material for his first CD - "Urban Morphology" which came out in 2006 and recieved very positive reviews from Jazzreview.com
