Even in spite of all the dynamics the world has been through over last week or so... I'm pretty optimistic about the future and feel pretty grateful for my life thus far. Three and half years ago I retired from Canada post after 30 years to follow my dreams of being a musician that actually makes a living doing it.

Over the last couple years I have been funding this very idea. I knew that eventually I would need to start working with a producer because I am lacking in several skill set required to record my songs where the listener would like to hear my songs more than once.

So I decided to consciously start working with the idea of somehow creating/mocking up a producer in my life as I went about living it, with an emphasis on having this come naturally and without a lot of effort.

Around this time last year I was mostly focused on playing a lot out in front of people focusing on my own songs and a few choice covers. Truthfully it was a bit of an experiment for me in terms of seeing people's responses to my songs as well as working a lot with owning for myself that I could actually do this.

It was definitely hard work for me and took a lot of life force to work this space. I was averaging 3 hour blocks at least a couple times a week from Feb through May last year. It was very educational for me and I got to do a lot of healing on my self through sharing my songs with others.

Packing up one night from a session at English Bay I received a call from a friend who asked if I would like to join him at the "Kitchen Table" an open mic in East Vancouver. I thought that might be fun and took him up on his offer. Long story short when I got up on stage that night I asked the audience if anyone would like to back me up on the Cajón. My friend Chris who invited me said, "Mani plays the Cajón" and next thing I know I got a drummer. So me and Mani jammed out on couple of my tunes. I didn't know it at the time but I had just met my producer !!

Chatting with Mani after the set I realized that he was far more than just a drummer. He told me he tends to work with people around preproduction as well as teaches music. I asked him where might I sign up? And we have been working together ever since. I was lucky to find Mani and thankful to call him a friend.

We worked on preproduction for the next several months jamming some songs out and working on structure, tempo, character feel, flow, rewrites and edits as well as a host of outer bits.Somewhere around mid August 2016 we starting hitting around 90% with the songs and he thought it was time to start tracking.

After much consideration in terms of exactly how this new material was going to be recorded and the costs involved in working in a studio I decided to bite the bullet and purchased Logic Pro as well as other various parts that are needed in creating a home studio. The upside of this was that I could work from home, the downside I have no idea how to use logic. But my Mani did and was willing to teach me.

So over the course of the last 6 months I have been getting Educated in the art of recording using Logic Pro. I must say Logic Pro is truly an amazing piece of software and my music sounds much better because of it. And I am thrilled to be sharing a new song
"LOVE CAN SET ME FREE" with you all in the not so distance future.

Thanks for sticking with me through all this.

We would love to be there Todd, but unfortunately we can't make it this year (I just had surgery and we have a rather expensive wedding coming up). Have a drink for us and best of luck! :D
