Bio:
After living and working separately in Louisiana and Ohio, Mark Lafferty and Doug Manteuffel are fortunate to reconnect through Facebook, write some new material, and work on some old favorites that they never got a chance to record from their first band “The Wake” ten years earlier. This served as the beginning of a strong musical path that became the roots of “The Taken”. As a band there are several influences that drive them including music, art, and movies that shine in their musical pursuits, The Taken are not one specific genre that you can put your finger on. In 2010, The Taken finished two CDs (a self-titled CD and Plan B, a collection of B-sides and cover songs). 2011 brings the Taken back to the studio to work on another set of original songs. Doug will share vocal duties with Danielle Navarro Birmingham. The music will continue to offer experimentation into various music styles. In addition, The Taken will continue to play live and work on a performing a wide mix of cover material ranging from Red Hot Chili Peppers and CCR to the Black Keys and Black Sabbath. The White Room studio continues to serve as a place for music creation. We have enhanced our production and recording skills with Logic Pro 9, Addictive Drums, Electro-Harmonix effects, Tama Drums, Fender guitars, Sennheiser and Behringer mics, VOX amplifiers and M-Audio controllers. Initial recordings for the first CD took many many takes and long hours to become familiar with the process. We have learned the process and the equipment, inside and out and look to offer the best audio experience to our fans. The live band consists of Doug and Mark, Dan Quilter [drums] whom was found the Toledo City paper classifieds. Danielle Navarro Birmingham [vocals] who was found at a local karaoke night at Little Sheba's in Toledo. Doug and Danielle are both 1992 graduates of Waite high school in Toledo. The band continues to look for collaborative efforts with other local musicians in the area; everyone has a dynamic to add to the music. The start of 2011 has brought us the chance to assist our friends in Lake Erie Paranormal with soundtrack music for their YouTube promo; it is our pleasure to help! We appreciate everyone who has come to see us play out, listened to our music, bought a CD or provided us with any type of commentary…we love you all! Look forward to the new CD sometime this year! Get Taken!!!
