Music Genre(s):
Time Sawyer was created in late 2009 by Sam Tayloe and Kurt Layell. The duo produced one acoustic EP together, yet still felt there was more that could be done. After a short break the band took shape with two new additions in mid 2010. Houston Norris was brought in on banjo, and Clay Stirewalt on the drums. Almost immediately songs began forming.The band’s name is a mix between the character Tom Sawyer and the element of Time. Being from a rural area, Tom Sawyer is an appealing character and symbolizes home. Time is introduced because it is a large element of our music. We won’t ever be able to escape the changes Time brings, good or bad, so we write on how many of these changes have made us feel. “Time Sawyer wants to make music for people to hear, because we take pride in what we have to say. The songs represent a bountiful mix of emotion and feeling for the heart and soul. Some are reflecting on tough times, others on the good, and others still aimed at the future. All, however, are dealing with the changes that time brings. We want to connect with people, because chances are many people are, or have gone through many of the same situations. We are anxious and nervous of the future and what it brings, but are excited to take it on” -(Sam Tayloe, Time Sawyer)
"I have to say that this CD [Time For A Change] reminds me a lot of Bob Dylan. Strong, meaningful lyrics, simple and accessible melodies, and there's even something in your voice that sounds like Dylan, except that you can sing. The arrangements are great! This is a fine CD."
