Bio:
Growing up in the Caribbean, between The Commonwealth of Dominica and the Virgin Islands, Ibis was exposed to a wide variety of Caribbean and American musical styles, and then introduced to African music. Along with his Rastafarian philosophy, he then fused them to create a mix of warm soothing sounds and powerful messages. Ibis is a well seasoned artist who has been in the business for over 20 years. He has written, produced and arranged albums for some of Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean's hottest acts, including the well-known African artist, Alpha Blondy, Secteur-A and so much more.. He's also performed with the pioneers of modern Eastern Caribbean music such as Exile One, Grammack's Jeff Joseph, Bankie Banx and of caurse Jimmy Cliff just to name a few. Ibis caught the music bug at an early age and by 15, he was playing the guitar and percussions in a band named Axis. Later in high school, Ibis went on to form his own band called Dread Ones. Since then, he has mastered several other instruments including keyboards. His latest album "Roots Lovolution" out now (2011) is a collection of roots reggae songs styled to the way it was done on the 1970s. "You Ain't See Nothing" out now (2007) is a variety of styles ranging from Roots to Dancehall and Lovers Rock blended into a soulful style that is typical to Ibis. "It's Alright" is a smooth, feel-good-to-the spirit blend of reggae and R&B. Before his 2002 release, Ibis recorded three albums in Europe. His debut solo "Earth Citizen" was released in 1991. This self-produced collection of songs is loaded with stirring messages of life and love, with a jazzy, funky reggae beat. "Island Lover" released in 1994, was an executive production of EMI and Alpha Blondy. It is a joyful mix of R&B, reggae, funk and Afro-Caribbean styles. In 2000 he released "Tropical Fever" a tribute to Dominica, his homeland, known as the Nature Island of the Eastern Caribbean. Dominica is the cradle of jing-ping, bouyon and cadencelypso. Since his solo act started, he has toured throughout Europe, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands. He has performed at International Festivals including Reggae Sunsplashes and the "Montreux" Music Festivals around the world. He also left his mark in Senegal, Ivory Coast and most of West Africa. These days, Ibis is in demand for his skills in producing, arranging and remixing. Look out for Ibis in your city, he is sure to leave you wanting for more !!!!!!!!!!!!
