President/Founder of Indie Music Channel, President/Founder of Metro Media Group, Inc., Host of "Indie Music Cafe" TV show

Welcome to the Indie Music Channel

The "Indie Music Channel" was created by
Emmy Award winning TV host, actor & model, Christopher Ewing.

"I created The Indie Music Channel and 'The Radio Cafe' radio show because I have always felt that there needed to be more support for local, indie music. There are a lot of really talented singers and bands out here whose music isn't getting enough radio play, if at all, mostly because they aren't signed to a big record deal with a major label. Whether these singers or bands have a record deal or not, they still have AWESOME music that deserves to be heard on the radio and now, through the Indie Music Channel, there is an outlet for them to get their music played."

About Christopher
He was a young black kid growing up in a single-parent home in the inner city of Detroit with a love for horses, who fought the obstacles of racism to become one of the top African-American riders in the history of equestrian show jumping. In 1992, Mr. Ewing and one of his horses were inducted into the Book of World Records.

Besides being an accomplished equestrian, Mr. Ewing is also an actor, T.V. show host and producer. As an actor, he has appeared on such top rated shows as "All My Children", "One Life to Live" and others, plus over 80 radio & T.V. commercials. He has also been the narrator and /or spokesperson in countless industrial films for General Motors, IBM and many others.

He is also the creator, producer and host of "Hang On to the Dream", a unique children’s television newsmagazine which showcases young people who are considered positive role models for others. This program has won the prestigious "Emmy Award" for "Best Children’s & Youth Program" as well as a "Service to Children Television Award" presented on Capitol Hill by the National Association of Broadcasters, which named "Hang On to the Dream" one of the top-10 children’s programs on television in 1995. Following the success of that program, Post-Newsweek Inc. developed a talk show which they asked Mr. Ewing to be the host of. The show, "Christopher E!", was a hip teen-oriented "interactive" talk show which dealt with issues that concern young people. The show was nominated for numerous awards and was highly praised for its unique style, as well as for Mr. Ewing’s hosting abilities.

Mr. Ewing also has "news reporter" on his impressive list of accomplishments. With his own franchise created by Post-Newsweek Stations, Inc. called "The E-Files" (for "Ewing"), Christopher covered teen & young adult topics, as well as celebrity interviews for the 5, 6 & 11pm newscasts on WDIV-TV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit.

Mr. Ewing is a singer/songwriter as well, who has written scores for industrial films and commercials, as well as the themes for both his T.V. shows. The theme for "Hang On to the Dream" has received much national attention from the media because of its inspirational lyrics.. The late Peter Jennings of "ABC World News Tonight" called the theme for "Hang On to the Dream", "Wonderful, I love it!"

Selected by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to serve as one of their prestigious "Blue Ribbon Judges", Mr. Ewing is an annual judge for the Emmy Award competitions, including the "Daytime Emmy Awards" and the "National News & Doc**entary Emmy Awards".

Christopher is also the President and Founder of The Hang On to the Dream Foundation, a national, 501 (c) 3, non-profit organization that helps kids from around the country by providing them with needed equipment, opportunities and finances in an effort to help them reach their goals in life. He is also the current President and Founder of The Detroit Council for the Arts, a 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization dedicated to promoting all areas of the visual and performing arts within the state of Michigan.

Christopher's television production company, Metro Media Group, Inc., recently signed legendary actress Lee Meriwether to host a series of news features called "Senior Living Report with Lee Meriwether". His company is also beginning production on a new weekly kids TV show that Christopher created called "Aunt Molly & Friends".

Mr. Ewing resides in suburban Detroit, as well as in Los Angeles, CA.  When he is not working, he is, either, on a horse or at church.

The Indie Music Channel headquarters is located at the
Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood, California.

Sunset Gower Studios is a 14-acre television and movie studio located at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street in Hollywood. The studios were originally founded as Columbia Pictures Studios by movie mogul Harry Cohn in 1921. The studio lot continues to this day to be one of Hollywood's largest studios, and an active facility for
television and film productions on its twelve soundstages.

Including the historic shorts of "The Three Stooges",  such classics as Frank Capra’s "It Happened One Night" in 1934,
 "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"
in 1939, "Funny Girl", "The Caine Mutiny" and many more were all filmed on the Sunset Gower Studios lot.  Besides productions of top films, television shows such as Scandal", "The Newsroom", "Pair of Kings", "Heroes", "Dexter", "Deal or No Deal", "Six Feet Under", "JAG", "Married... with Children",
"Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", "Blossom", "Soap", "I Dream of Jeannie", "Bewitched",
"The Golden Girls", "Judge Judy", "Minute to Win It", "Let's Make a Deal"
and many, many others currently occupy, or have occupied, several sound stages on this historic lot.

The offices for Indie Music Channel and "The Radio Cafe" are located in the historic Courtyard at Sunset Gower Studios.

MOVIE TRIVIA: The film "It Happened One Night" (starring Clark Gabel and Claudette Colbert) was written in our offices.  In 1934, the film was the first to win all five major Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay), a feat that would not be matched until One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and later by The Silence of the Lambs (1991).

Favorite quote from a movie: "Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!" - Rocky
