Bio:
‘Tale quale’ means: ‘that what is’. In the songs, written by Steven De Wit, the band travels several style-roads. From chanson over 80’s to rock and from folk to emo-pop and soukous. Funny subjects as there are death, developement-aid and religion alternate with more serious subjects as hapiness, trust and love. At the end of 2010 the band released it’s first full-CD: ‘Zebra lotion, shake while using’. This disc contain 10 pieces of quality music: C’est mon jour: those people who thought that dying is a dull, solitary matter were wrong. Dying might as well be an exciting solitary matter within the subgroup ‘s*** happens.’ Demasiado: passionate mariachi-like sounds and a macho in love sketch a story in terracotta and cactuses.¿No existe vida sin dolor?... To investigate. See you in a minute: A snuff of reggae, a pinch of ‘whatever‘ and beautiful backings turn this cool-dude-song into an earparty. Hope you are: Hope and trust, that’s what it’s all about in this world and far beyond. A guitarriff that sounds like a plastic trailer poured over with a fat synth-solo from planet Zork underline this statement. Lovebound: As beautiful as love itself. Sticky though elegant. This song could serve well on a funeral but reaches it’s real potential on wedding-parties of couples which believe in true love. Including a monumental sax-solo from upcoming Jazz-legend Nathan D. I’m on my way: Religion is a hot-item these days. The link between religion and redemption is to be found somewhere in the intestinal tube and is driven out with diabolic fierceness in this song. Life off the hook: The path to real life-bliss is steep, difficult and demanding sacrifice according to many people. According to Tale Quale it’s a downhill highway which could be travelled slide-wise. ‘Life off the hook’ offers an elegant recipe. Sing this song out loud every day and your bliss will multi-increase exponentially. Peculiar: A square-rythm-song that sticks.‘Less is more’ a wise man once stated. It only needed to be proved. O l’Afrique: Soukous swings. O l’Afrique is an ode to Africa and a small travellers guide which poses the question: ‘Who needs developement-aid the most?’ The parade: A beautiful ballad on friendship, self-confidence and freedom. This song contains the common factor of this Tale Quale début. The different styles and variations are a collage of impressions and fragments which add some magic to this disc. A timeless parade that never gets boring.
