RodneyPhimp has always had a love for music. He recalls as a child picking up n old tape recorder and lugging it in his backpack to school as if it were a well needed book. "I picked it up and never put it back down," he says. Phimp started out writing raps for himself and his friends, soon he came to realize that in order to reach a dream, one has to be willing to work hard for them. As he got older he became knowledgeable with drum machines thanks to his uncle, in which he learned the basics from. Aside from learning that the music industry is a dog eat dog business, He enrolled in a college geared toward audio engineering and the music industry. Graduating with honors he left with a better understanding and was more prepared for the music business. Now it is time for the world to prepare their ears for a new and creative sound. RodneyPhimp ranges from performing in comfy coffee houses to winning awards from industry panelists, such as Demo Fast Break (DFB). The DFB's panel includes top executives in the entertainment and music industries who provide helpful tips to aspiring artists. They consist of music producers and record companies responsible for soundtracks for the Exorcist, Resident Evil, and music direction for Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, and many others. They described RodneyPhimp's music as being hot and the next big thing. His sound carries urban poetry and his lyrics are witty and thought provoking. The name Phimp stands for "Pro Hearted Intellectual Man of Paradigm". A paradigm can be defined as a typical example or pattern of something; a model, in other words "Conscious Music". It is with that model that the artist RodneyPhimp brings the much needed originality into the music realm.
