Bio:
Founded in May 2007 by brothers, Nick and Ben Batton, Chil started out in the basement like many other great bands. What started out as just having fun has turned into a way of life. Raw talent, hard work, professional training and determination continue to pay off for the band. Chil’s resume includes performances at First Night Akron, Northside Bar & Grille, Teens Rock Akron, House of Blues (Tri-C High School Rock Off), the Ohio State Fair, Peabody’s in Cleveland (Battle of the Bands), Stow Relay for Life, Water Street Tavern, The Lounge, Funny Stop Comedy Club (Teen Band Night), EuroGyro, Mannequin Bar and Bistro, as well as many festivals and private parties.

Nick Batton, Chil’s rhythm guitarist, lead vocalist and song writer, started playing guitar at age 10. He has a talent for engaging the audience and pulling them into each of Chil’s performances. Nick, a self-professed “gear-head”, is true to the sound and chooses his equipment carefully. As Nick writes the band’s music, much thought goes into which guitar will be pushed through his Marshall JCM 900 amp. He is rarely seen without a guitar in his hands. Nick’s passion for music and determination for success continue to drive Chil forward.

Ben Batton, Chil’s drummer, vocalist and song writer, started drumming in December of 2006 and continually challenges himself to grow in his abilities. A huge fan of Travis Barker, Neil Pert and Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan (RIP), Ben pushes towards perfection in his drumming. “The harder the song, the better.” says Ben. His goal is to become a professional drummer and perform at large venues across the United States. Ben’s favorite thing to do is to play live shows and hear the roar of the crowd.

Max Duffy, Chil’s bassist, started out playing guitar at age 10. He began forming his skills on the bass at age 13. He thought guitar was OK, but wanted to slap out notes through the bass guitar instead. His style of bass varies from rock to jazz theory progressions to the current pop / punk sound of Chil. Max creates his unique bass lines for the band. From clapping his hands to doing guitar swings, Max fully participates in audience engagement and has great stage presence in gigs large to small. He pushes his sound from and Ernie Ball Musicman classic into a Fender 115 bxa.
