Bio:
Born on August 9, 1987 Chiefrasta is the youngest of five children. He is of Jamaican decent and comes from a bloodline of musicians. In his early years Chief migrated to Decatur, Georgia with his family, where shortly after, his father was tragically murdered. The loss of his father triggered him to become rebellious which resulted in him being sent to Miami, Florida to live with his uncle in hopes of a better future with the influence of a positive male role model. While in Miami, Chief began writing poetry as an outlet for his thoughts and emotions. As a teenager he was introduced to band by his two older cousins, which at that point was also his introduction to the craft of creating and performing live music. During his freshman year in high school Chief’s uncle, built a home recording studio and asked him to invite some of the musically-inclined students at his school over to start recording at the studio. An amateur in the recording studio, Chief volunteered but was overlooked by his uncle for the latent talent he possessed. Even though he was denied a chance to record in his uncle’s studio at the time his passion, dedication, hunger, and talent continued to grow. Chief’s uncle began to notice how serious he had become about his music career and began helping him to produce songs for his first mixtape titled "Muzic 2 Da Ear" which was filled with energy, good lyrical content and diversity and could be loved by many. At the age of eighteen while most were deciding which college or university to pursue, Chief was thinking about what step to take next in order to enhance his music career. He was advised to relocate to Atlanta, the hip hop Mecca, to further his career as an upcoming artist. In Atlanta, Chief started performing at the Atrium on ‘Open Mic Thursdays’ where he later met Shawty Blue and Mista Websta of Da HardHead Camp. They became friends stemming from a mutual respect they had for one another’s music. Chief later became the third official member of Da HardHead Camp. Together they became a musical force to reckon with. Mista Websta and Shawty Blue created incomparable beats and added a southern drawl while Chief brought versatility with his ability to embody Miami swag and also utilize his Jamaican roots while delivering well-versed patois (patwa) which set Da HardHead Camp apart from the rest. Da HardHead Camp proceeded to release their 2009 mixtape “Y’all N*gg@s Suck” which featured 21 songs that summed up 21 reasons why today’s music sucks. The hit single "I Know Wut I’m Doing" was aired on Hot 107.9’s battlegrounds and won against its contender while their second single “Have You Seen Her” became a MySpace hit giving them over 700,000 profile views. Currently on a hiatus, Da HardHead Camp members are working on their own solo projects. Chief’s third mixtape "Da Last Moheken" is set to release in August 2010 and will feature the singles "So Fly”, "On Da Grind" and "Times Up". Chief is determined to leave a lasting impression on all facets of the music industry.
