Katie Richards is a talented young woman from Townsville North Queensland and has recently written, recorded and released her first Album titled “Fancy That” in August 2010. The 26 year old musician from Townsville has been writing her own music, playing guitar, singing and performing live on stage from the ripe old age of 10. Along with learning the trumpet, drums and piano, Katie favoured voice and guitar. Her singing career started out performing in the Country Music Festivals around Qld, Talent quests, School Choirs and along with numerous guest appearances with other local rock bands and groups. In March 2010, Katie supported Toni Childs on her recent Oz tour 2010 and performed her originals to audiences in Maryborough, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville. Over the past seven years Katie has performed at many popular venues in Queensland and last year was a guest artist at the annual Palm Creek Festival. Other venues Down South Queensland include Kitty Oshae’s, Carindale Hotel, Beachmere Tavern and many more in The Gold Coast Area. Katie is a known performer around Townsville for Entertaining to crowds for Opening Ceremony’s, Australia Day Celebrations, V8 super Car Days, and many Fundraising Concerts for Youths, Down Syndrome Associations & Domestic Violence. She has regularly performed as lead female singer with many Rock Bands, Duo’s and audiences in Townsville are familiar with her many solo performances. Jamaica Joes, a popular venue located on the famous Strand in Townsville, has hosted Katie and her Drummer Con Hagiaglou (from the band The Truants) on numerous occasions with the crowd being very receptive and wanting more. The production of the new album “Fancy That” took place at the Valley Studios located in The Blue Mountains and engineered by Roger Corbett. Katie’s first video clip is about to commence shooting in May 2011 and will feature a song off the album called "Happier Man".
