Bio:
Greg & Steve

Greg Scelsa and Steve Millang have been friends and business partners since
they met shortly after graduating High School in Orange County, California.
They played in several rock bands together performing the sounds they grew up
with including The Beach Boys, Motown and the Beatles.

When their band moved to LA to seek a recording contract, the road to fame
was much harder than expected. Greg and Steve suddenly found themselves
the last two remaining after the group disbanded. Unwilling to give up their dream, they took day jobs as teaching assistants working with Special Needs children in LA City & County schools. Nights were devoted to their music.

Steve's interests gravitated toward building a recording studio with the idea of
having a place to produce music, while Greg's primary interest was to write the
music they sang and produced. But their part time jobs working with children
soon became a big part of their lives. Eventually, their love of music was
combined with their love of children. They began taking their guitars to school
and started developing songs and activities to help children learn. Soon they
had developed a reputation as "Pied Pipers" within the Special Education
Schools

After seven years in the classroom by day, Greg and Steve decided it was time
to pursue their music careers full time. However, they wanted to leave something
behind for all the kids and teachers they had worked with. So, in the studio that
Steve had built into an upstart business, they began making demos of pop songs
as well as some of their childrens' music. Both Greg & Steve decided to take
college classes to enhance their music skills. That included songwriting classes
at UCLA Extension with the well know Academy Award winning songwriter, Al
Kasha. Greg found in Al's teachings the writing skills he needed to become a
professional writer.

Greg & Steve then set about recording an album of children's songs for early
childhood classrooms. Utilizing the music and production skills they had learned,
they recorded their first album called, WE ALL LIVE TOGETHER". Not knowing
what to do with the new album, they decided to take their first self-released
recording to a national education convention, NAEYC, in Dallas, Texas.

At that convention, Greg & Steve took a small exhibit space to sell their
album. But since they had no way of demonstrating their new music, they found
a ballroom space at a nearby hotel and put on two free workshop performances.
With flyers passed out to conference attendees as they passed by their booth,
they were able to fill both performances. To their great surprise, they got a
standing ovation after each performance and ended up selling 500 albums
in Dallas. Youngheart Records was born.

They were soon being asked to perform at local teacher conferences all
over the U.S.A. to show how to use music can be used in early childhood.
Later Greg & Steve began performing concerts for large groups of children.
Their popularity began to spread through out the educational community where
their recordings were being used in thousands of schools and in every state. So
did their draw as a concert act for young children and families. Greg & Steve
were the first children's act to perform at Carnegie Hall where they sold out
two shows.

The duo took on the task of developing a network of over 1,200 School
Supply stores where educational music is sold. They put their Youngheart
Records office in a small house behind Steve's studio. Thankfully, they had no
idea how daunting a task was ahead of them. They built their one recording
artist company into one of the the most successful in the educational industry.

The music of Greg and Steve has been incorporated into the early childhood
curriculum at many colleges and universities with teacher programs. Their
songs are used in many textbooks published by Simon & Schuster,
Houghton Miflfin, Silver Burdette, Ballard & Tighe, Scott Foresman & Co.
and Hal Leonard. Songs have been translated into many languages including
Spanish, Purtuguese as well as being used in english worldwide.

Awards and accolades include a 2009 52nd Grammy Nomination for the album
JUMPIN' & JAMMIN'. They have also received 9 Parent's Choice Awards,
The American Library Journal Award, Children's Web Awards "Lifetime
Achievement Award", and numerous municipal honors.

Greg & Steve now boast an impressive catalog of 19 albums and two videos
with sales of over 5 million copies. Even more impressive is that most
of those sales were made though their network of School Supply stores around
North America rather than through music industry record distributors. They
still perform concerts for children all across the USA, and remain highly regarded
workshop and keynote presenters for teachers of young children.

Greg & Steve, together and individually have had success outside of children's
music. They have worked with many top recording artists and record
companies. Steve's Silverlake Studio boasts having over 20 Platinum and
Gold albums recorded there. Greg has written or co-written several hit songs and
music for TV and film.

Their newest album, GET UP & DANCE, was be released in 2021.
