Biography: Grayhawk

Indie Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Grayhawk, is a multi-award winning, classically trained, composer, producer, music filmmaker, keyboardist and conductor. A mystic, scholar of religious studies, musician, visionary and sonic alchemist, Grayhawk is a practicing Wiccan, devoted to Earth- centered Spirituality that began with a Visionquest with Native American elders during the time of the Harmonic Convergence. Grayhawk has traveled extensively throughout the world gathering inspiration. These experiences inspired the first segment of his "Shamanic Trilogy", "Shaman Journey", recorded with the late New Age/Jazz icon, Paul Horn and the late, great master cellist, David Darling. Now a ground-breaking music film, “Shamanic Journey (Continuous Mix)” has been selected for several international film festivals, including the Cannes Independent Film Festival; and won the Grand Jury Award at the 2022 Awareness Film Festival at LA Live Regal Theaters.

Collaborating with Native Hawaiian, Lokelani Kelau Kailipaka-Day , “Shamanic Journey (Continuous Mix)” is a prayer and a song honoring the Hawaiian pantheon and celebrating our unity with each other and all of creation. Inspired by experiential shamanism, we engage with all of our totem animal Spirits from the mystical seascape of Lemuria to the Western dream lodges of North America and to the Southern realm of the Maya, Inca and Extraterrestrial whispers.

Next came the compelling and binding spell of “Blissful Magic: Spiral of the Celtic Mysteries”, an eco-warrior tour de force inspired by the activism of Redwood Summer. “Blissful Magic” has yielded the new release of Grayhawk’s latest music video, “To Ask A Blessing”. Honoring the Triple Goddess, Maiden, Mother and Crone, “To Ask A Blessing” is imbued in “The Old Ways” of Celtic Mysticism and prays in Gaelic and English for a healing in our souls and upon the land, seas and wind as the incarnate presence of the Divine Feminine.

The third segment of Grayhawk’s “Shamanic Trilogy”, “Voice of the Ancestors” reflects the transcendent magic and power of Angkor Wat and ancient Vietnam. “Voice of the Ancestors” reached # 1 on the New Age Music Guide Chart, and was selected “Album of the Year”(All Genres) in the One World Music Radio OWMR Awards, and has received Multiple Indie Music Channel Awards, COVR Awards and a Global Music Award.

Grayhawk received a degree in music composition from the University Of California, Los Angeles which was formative to his ensuing lifelong interest in composing and producing sacred music when his Mass was performed by conducting professor, Roger Wagner, the founding director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Grayhawk worked as a film composer on “Superstition”, “Killing Time”, “The Witch”, “Gold Plunder, Down Under”, and more.

Grayhawk is the devoted father of Bridget and is happily married to noted Vietnamese/American author, Nguyệt Mị (Dream Moon). The family resides in Temecula, California. Grayhawk taught music in public schools from 1999 through 2021 . “Voice of the Ancestors” is dedicated to his toddler son, Christopher Rainbow Dragon, who perished in 2007 from neuroblastoma, a catastrophic pediatric cancer of the sympathetic nervous system.
