Bio:: Formed in 2009 and based in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Minor Elite is an eclectic indie rock band. In 2010 'Wind of Your Lips' made it to number one nationally overall on Triple J’s Unearthed charts. Tomatrax, online music magazine and Unearthed super reviewer, has listed Minor Elite at #4 on their playlist of top 45 songs of best new Australian artists for 2010, #14 on their Top 100 songs of 2010, and #4 in the Top 10 Albums of 2010. The band’s debut self-titled 12 track album was released in August 2010. The band is comprised of a talented, dedicated mix of musicians, including songwriter/vocalist/acoustic guitarist Matt Vanderveen, guitarist Wade Clayton, bassist Jamie Bingham and drummer Charlie Whaite. With self-confessed influences from great rock bands such as Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, Minor Elite deliver a tight set of diverse originals. Echoes of ’90s grunge rock have been given a seamless contemporary kick. Each show has something different to offer. The band gives their all to every performance and aim to take people on a musical journey. They're not your ‘traditional’ rock band, so don’t expect a ‘constant wall of distortion-40 drum rolls per second-clean verse-heavy chorus-4/4-halftime band’. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s not what they do. What you can expect is plenty of space in the music as well as some really up-tempo haunting stuff played by four guys who love what they do. Dynamics are the key to this band.
