Bio:
David Rodgers is a songwriter/bass guitarist from Opp, Alabama. At seventeen he helped form a band called Young Country. They were local favorites around the nightclubs of South Alabama, Northwest Florida, and Southwest Georgia. Over the years they had the honor of opening shows for some of Nashville's finest acts such as Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, and Neal McCoy. The band won the local competition of the Jimmy Dean/Tru-Value Country Showdown in both 1995 and 1997. They also finished second in the state of Alabama in that same competition in 1997. In 1998, Young Country released an independent album entitled A Chance to Dance. The album received radio airplay on FM station 96.9 in Dothan, AL. The members of the group disbanded, in 1999, to pursue other interests. Not long after, David and his family made the move to Nashville, so he could pursue his dream of becoming a hit songwriter on music row. Since landing in Nashville, David has shared the stage as a backing musician with some awesome artists and musicians such as Mike Kennedy(Drummer for George Strait), Shawn Hammonds( Country Thunder Recording Artist), Christy Lynn(Former Porter Wagoner background singer), and country music legend Porter Wagoner. He has performed his original songs on the stages of the Bluebird Cafe and Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. Four of his songs were published by Porter Wagoner Music Company. David was featured in the July/August 2008 issue of American Songwriter Magazine in the lyric contest spotlight. He is currently in the process of finishing several songs and is working toward getting his first cut with a major label artist.
