Spiritual, reminiscent: all words that could describe Hamar’s music With her soothing voice and honest songwriting, Cynthia Hamar draws many fans to her music, both onstage and online, where she enjoys an active grassroots following as one of the top folk artists on reverbnation for the Edmonton Area. Cynthia Hamar is a Métis singer-songwriter, guitarist and pianist from Edmonton, Alberta. She was born Dec 9, 1978 in Drayton valley Alberta and grew up in Entwistle. In July 2007, Hamar released her first studio album, Fairytale. Rather than sign a contract tying her to a gruelling tour schedule, her church family and friends all pitched in and helped her buy her record outright. Fairytale was nominated for a GMA 2007 .The remainder of the year was spent touring western Canada and playing local venues re-working her songs for her live performances. Her second independently released album Acous.ti.cal.ly came out on July 15, 2010. It is a collection of songs she often plays alone and in coffee shops and pubs. The real Hamar, raw and soothing in a tidy package.
