Andy Pickford was one of the UK's major talents during the 1990's. Bursting onto the scene with "Replicant" he immediately established his credentials for producing infectiously melodic synth music with a filmic twist.

Xenomorph was released on Ian Boddy's Something Else Records label in 1996 a year after the two musicians had collaborated on Symbiont. It's a typical mix of lush, soundtrack style music mixed with uplifting melodies and up-tempo, powerful rhythmic sections.

Andy has released many albums on his own, but has also collaborated with other artists which include Paul Nagle (as Binar) & Ian Boddy (Symbiont Album)

He also collaborated with Dave Barker (Asana) on some tracks they performed live at Derby Guild Hall. I seem to remember UFO being mentioned & they played a 3 track continuous set. I personally thought it was brilliant but after this live appearance nothing further seem to happen between them. (This can now be heard on this page if you look around)

As an individual Andy has appeared live many times, venues include Electronic Cafe (Derby), Jodrell Bank Planetarium (Cheshire) & many more. His most memorable gig, in my mind is when he debuted his new album, Maelstrom live at Derby Cathedral. What an amazing place to serve us up an outstanding performance which was split into two parts. First was earlier material from his previous albums & the second part was a complete set of the new album. It was stunning, what with the atmosphere of the cathedral, lights reflecting of the stain glassed windows & the sound reverberating through the timbers and stone. Incredible. I will never forget that evening.

Here is a review of that concert from Sound on Sound July 1995.
