Bio:
Bright Brown is sonic cinema. Bittersweet layers and textures abound, and beautifully crafted songs exist at the core. Alex Nahas sings with a hope-tinged, quirky reverence for life’s great mysteries while creating engaging sonic texture on the seldom seen Chapman Stick, as Nick Smeraski drums slinky yet explosive grooves underneath. New to the mix are the cinematic stylings of keyboardist, David Blatty, pushing the envelope even farther every which way. Their latest release, "Oceans" also features the voices of Alex’s wife, Sarah Nestel, 7 year old son, Aurel Nahas, and an infectious and quirky array of backing vocals from Nick and David. "Alex Nahas and Nick Smeraski of Bright Brown bring an ideal soundtrack to the crisp, autumn air. Sounds range from sparse and repetitive like a piece for avant-garde dance to expansive and melodic like the theme from a western where everyone dies in the same pool of blood. Fans of Brian Eno, Nick Drake, and John Cale should check these guys out." - Deli NYC "...brilliant songs, full of pathos and alienation, but sweetened with strong doses of optimism... healthy doses of climactic major chords and high-arcing vocal choruses.” - Greg Howard, stick.com
