I recently discovered something about my family history that touched me deeply. One of my ancestors, Gennaro Manna, from Naples, Italy, was an accomplished 18th-century composer and musician. His life and musical accomplishments are documented on his Wikipedia page. He came from the same family line and area of Naples as my father and his ancestors. To discover that music reaches so far back into my own family history—and that one of my ancestors devoted his life to composing music—made what I am doing today feel even more meaningful to me
