Bio:
The whole purpose of the name Curry Quiche is to sound different without sounding pretentious. The style of music we play can’t really be slotted into any genre and this is completely intentional as we hope to sound different and actually mean it.
We are influenced by a diverse range of music. Our musical style can be similar to 70’s punk and ska. We have a fast pace with additional keyboards that reminisces bands like the Stranglers, The Damned, TSOL the Specials and Devo. We try to make our music a little disjointed in places as we are fans of the Cardiac’s Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Captain Beefheart and Mike Patton. We think that making music a little less predictable makes it more interesting and less cliché. We also sound quite catchy and danceable in some songs because we want to make music that people enjoy and remember. Musicians like Jeff Lynne Ray Davies and Brian Wilson all have the gift of creating clever catchy and meaningful pop songs which we attempt, to a certain extent, in our music. More modern musical influences are as follows Eighties Matchbox B Line Disaster, The shins, Grandaddy, Unsane, The Aliens, Jack White, and The Eels. Keep posted on Curry Quiches songs, videos and Albums of the week on our facebook page
Curry Quiche also really like any films directed by the Cohen Brothers. Such films focus on characters with simple lives that are often transformed by a particular event or series of events. Their characters are very believable making it easy to relate to them and their surroundings.
Our music is inspired by social decline in England and how Technology has become more important than having friends. Our somewhat negative approach to song writing is influenced by our surroundings where economic decline has taken a big hit on our home town of Rotherham. Our concept album (currently being mixed) titled ‘1 Seed, No Leeches’ reflects this.
We are not particularly fashion conscious but we do dress in mad clothes from time to time. We once dressed in women’s clothes for a battle of the bands competition. On stage we are very energetic and like to encourage the crowd to move and dance too. We enjoy playing live regardless of how many people come to watch us. We believe it is our job to entertain so that’s what we do 100% into every gig.
