Bio:
"A cutting silhouette of a voice, Ríona Sally Hartman trips through songs with an ease of grace found in the best of offbeat female artists….With hints of Laura Marling in her approach to song making…a wonderfully crafted pop record with jazz and classical sensibilities" - -Hugh Torpey - Le Cool Magazine "Her songs tell little stories in their own right, reminding of early Tori Amos but with a more definite hint of jazz in there" - -Discovered in Dublin "Enchanting sweet vocals mask passionate and dark lyrics....your emotions get dragged through every bar with her, from sadness to angry defiance. They are owed an in depth listen." - -The London Music Blog Ríona Sally Hartman began performing as a solo artist in 2008 and in the short period of time since then has grown a considerable fan base in her native Dublin. Following her well received tour of Ireland, both north and south, in the summer of 2010 Ríona released her debut CD ‘Sealegs’ at a sold out launch in Whelan’s. Since then Sealegs has been garnering praise from critics and audiences alike in particular for the single 'Seasnail', a deceptively sweet sounding waltz broaching the grainier side of love. Ríona Sally Hartman’s live band showcases some of the brightest young minds of the Dublin music scene, each musician with a firm dedication to their craft and with backgrounds in genres as far reaching as jazz, classical and klezmer. Ríona has become known for her eclectic musical influences, and honoring them through a unique pop aesthetic. The eclecticism has allowed her to reach a very broad audience and play a wide variety of venues across the country. Before Ríona Sally Hartman began performing as a solo artist she was mostly known for her role in the critically acclaimed album ‘The Facts of Life for the Palestinian’ by Sami Moukaddem (4/5 stars The Irish Times).
