Self described as ‘Indie Banger Pop’, Mr. Tom is comprised of four likeable guys from Southampton with Steve Colver ‘the revolver’ on lead guitar, Leeroy Marcer owning the beats on the drums, Donny B keeping it steady on the bass, and Nick Crowe fronting with guitar and those very British vocals. Their sound is extremely catchy and current (without sounding too much like the last band to be spat out of the alternative stream) with acoustic melodies intertwind with plucky electric guitar and uplifting rhythms. Nick’s accented lead vocals are typical of other flourishing music acts of today, like Ed Sheeran or the Ting Tings. You may consider this English twang to be over used and boring, but it gives Mr. Tom an appealing quality, and their overall sound a cheeky personality.
The new single “Feet Hit The Floor” was produced by James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses, Dry The River, Grammatics) and is a punchy track that bursts into immediate energy with lyrics embracing that Friday night buzz. It is bound to get you up and bouncing around on a Friday…maybe even a Saturday, a Sunday, or pretty much any day of the week! Other tracks seem to follow suit with varying tempos, but no loss of cheer and distinction.
The guys have been together as this particular outfit for about 2 years, but all have played together at some point previously in various other bands, with the exception of Lee who was sought after by the group. As a result the four lads’ main focus is to have fun together as mates and create music they are proud of, with an overall aim to do well as Mr. Tom. They describe their song writing process as ‘brutal’, only keeping the finest creations they muster up together, and this is evident throughout their music, with every song harbouring positively enticing riffs and well written indie-pop lyrics.
