Bio:
Igor Stanislas, writer, composer and performer, was born on 2 August 1966 at Montmorency in France. He began writing poetry at the age of 13. His discovery in 1985 of The Beatles « Rubber Soul » and « Abbey Road » albums led quickly to first attempts at song-writing and the decision to become a full-time musician. This also saw the start of his long-term artistic collaboration with childhood friend, Emmanuel Mac Manus. In 1986 he left for London and, following closely the Beatles Songbook, set about learning the acoustic guitar. First groups were established as a result, namely « Requiem » and « Rose des Vents », the latter of which included participation on a demo from one of the drummers from the British group « Adam and the Ants ». In 1987 he started to learn the piano and to spend time in London studios recording his first songs. At this same time, the idea for a complete work, to be entitled the 'Opera Bleu', came to mind. During the years that followed he also proved himself more than proficient on bass guitar, harmonica and ukelele. In 1988 to 89, he put together two anthologies entitled « Premiers Paradoxes » and « Du defi au destin », followed by an essay « L'art infini au-dela des lois ». At the beginning of the 1990s, Igor took over the production and recording of all his own demos and albums. Returning to Paris in late 1990, he continued to work with his group Rose des Vents with Emmanuel Mac Manus on guitar and mandolin. In addition to concerts at numerous Paris venues such as Le Gibus, Le Palace and La Locomotive, the group's first single « Walk Away » received extensive airplay on FM radio, and a video clip for the track 'Animal' was shown frequently on the tv channel MCM. 1996 saw the birth of the group La Dune - in continued collaboration with Emmanuel Mac Manus, along with drummer Stephane Ride - a pop/rock three-piece, with Igor's newly-found skills at bass guitar coming to the fore. Concerts continued around France, with promotional coverage, such as « Sous les Etoiles » on Radio France Inter, press interviews, plus the making of a further clip « Oh Lord » with director Stephane Jauny. This year also saw the completion of the album « Pourquoi tu me regardes ». From 2002-06, Igor moved extensively into music for films, resulting in three volumes entitled « Soundtrack », influenced to some degree by the differing styles of Philip Glass and Brian Eno. igor stanislas start to compose for films, documetary, animation, sound designer . He also set up, again with Emmanuel Mac Manus, a new group called « Alaska ». Together they recorded an 11 minute pop/progressive rock piece called « Evolution ».It was in 2004 that work really began in earnest on the Opera Bleu, firstly with extensive research into the history and literary universe of great seamen. The aim was to arrive at a concept album along the lines of 70s folk/rock/pop/classical works, such as « Gainsbourg's « L'homme à tête de choux ,« The Who Quadrophenia and « Pink Floyd's » The Wall. A 26-track demo was the result of this, with the participation of drummer Laurent Combes and saxophonist/keyboards Dominique Mourouvin. « The Opera Bleu » package also included a dvd of four acoustic track (piano/vocals/guitar) recorded by Jean-Marie Migeot (Jacques Dutronc,Paul Personne) at the rehearsal rooms of the Opera de Paris, plus an interview. At the end of 2007 an official website was established, several blogs set up, and a number of its tracks accessible on-line on YouTube,DailyMotion and MySpace. In 2008, after a year of rehearsing and concerts, the Opera Bleu took on in addition a new dimension, that of video projection, a diverse but relevant mix of images filmed by Igor with Laurent Combes the drummer and put together by Igor, projected during each show. The 2009 year end resulted in further collaboration with Jean-Marie Migeot, with the recording of 13 tracks under the name of IGOR AND THE HIPPIE LAND.A new name instead opera bleu, DRAGONFLY album's release is planned for the 7 of february 2010. Few songs are on radios in France and abroad. 2011 the band work for new songs in english with new demo on streaming.it will be on studio in May 2011 in Paris.
