Born Ryan Lee Carter Lair in Kansas City, Missouri, Ryan C aka MrFressh embodies that distinguished air of charisma and confidence that commands your attention when he speaks. What makes him different from the competition? His universal appeal, infectious delivery and magnetic presence. He doesn’t wake up and try to rap..... it just happens. Having developed a love for music and writing poetry as a child, Ryan felt it a natural progression to begin recording professionally at 15. “I chose to be a rapper because I felt it was my calling. I like to listen to the beat and hum the words regardless of what I’m going to say. Then like magic, a melody forms in my head.” he adds. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration from The University of Missouri Kansas City, and having emerged from one of the city’s most notorious crime areas, Ryan is a living testament of determination. As a U.S. certified swimming coach for five years, he also swam for Florida A&M. His multi-faceted experiences have afforded him a plethora of perspectives to convey through his music. He pulls the inspiration and sound from his every day experiences, he is a Funeral Director in the morning and a Swimming Coach in the evening. “I feel like I have an unlimited resource for creating good music. I feel like if given the time and opportunity I can reach more than hip-hop fans….. I could reach our youth, “he mentions. From hosting shows, performing and bringing national acts to Kansas City, Ryan has become a staple on Missouri’s music and entertainment scene. His efforts have cultivated a massive following and presence among local hip-hop lovers, and he plans to extend his reach on a national level. “Being the best I can be motivates me every day. I feel like I am re-born in the morning with vigor and new hope to achieve new dreams. I believe in the end I will have affected people in a good way, stimulating the positives that lie dormant in our conscience due to everyday struggles.”
