Bio:: Prolific P, born Portia Mitchell, is a new up and coming artist representing Virginia. Though currently 24, Prolific has been doing her "thang" in the music game since the tender age of 10. She tried unsuccessfully to write and perform with childhood friends forming girl groups until finally she and her younger brother decided to become a hip-hop/r&b duo. The two were on the fast track to fame by 2003 when Traapa J.R. began having trouble with the law. In 2005 the brother-sister power duo went their creative separate ways but remained close. Feeling as if she could no longer pursue a career in music Portia went off to art school in Philadelphia for film. Life continued to have it's ups and downs in Philly, but always something was missing for Pro P. So Prolific moved to Miami and returned to her first love, music. This time getting more in depth with the personal lifestyle that seemed to keep her an underdog before. Prolific P spends these days on her grind, in the studio, doing video/film production, collaborating with like-minded artists in Miami, and enjoying life to the fullest. A strong southern influence is heard in her music with the perfect combination of southern dance, r&b, and story telling. . .
