To All Indie Music Channel Artist,

I have the chance in this past year to listen to many of your musical works. I found your musical works to be outstanding in so many different fields of music that it overwhelmed me at the amount of unbelievable talent that calls the Indie Music Channel "Home" . It is truly amazing at the amount of instrumental and vocal talent that is changing the face of modern music one recording at a time in an ever changing vision of how the world views and listens to music. Our Music! Indie Music! I have found the music of the Artist of the Indie Music Channel to be uplifting and inspirational not mention INOVATIVE! It is with this in mind that I speak to you to continue on the road that our founding Father Christopher Ewing has laid out before us. Christopher has enabled given all of a us a chance to be heard and does it for the love of Indie Music and a strong belief in the underdog and given like myself who might never have been heard a chance to be heard in the music world. Through Christopher and his vision I believe that we all have found our voice without paying the big dollars to sites that only like to feed on our dreams and offer nothing in return. I strongly support the Indie Music Channel and all its members. We must continue to support each other and push each other forward toward the goal of excellence in music. To Melia, Wow! Your work is truly outstanding and it is an honor to call you friend and to have listened to your music, your art, and to hear the gift that you bring to the world! I applaud you, and wish you continued success on your musical journey!

God bless all of you and the best to you all in 2013!

The Downfall of the Big Labels

Posted on January 20, 2013 at 7:30pm 0 Comments

With the Indie Revolution beginning to take a firm grip on the race for dollars and listeners it becomes apparently clear at least to me that the days of the Big Record Labels are numbered.

Reminiscing of the music boom of the 1960's and 70's when every form of music was banging out of all the AM radio station CKLW, CHUM just to name a couple. It was a time when the listeners made the Artist a star based on their recording (either it was a good record or it wasn't) via a listener request system. There is some truth to the saying "Video killed the radio star" which in my opinion I would have to agree with the saying. If you were to take the stars of today and put them against the rating system of yesterday a good quarter of them would not have made the cut if not more. There is a big difference between Video Star of today and the Recording Artist of yesterday. I also believe that there was a great musical difference. The music of yesterday seem to be more in touch with what going on around them and the social issue of the day. Neil Young's "Southern Man" or Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin On?" which spoke to the issues of the day. Bob Dylan "Blowin In The Wind" Peter, Paul and Mary " James Taylor" You've Got A Friend “If I Had A Hammer", TLC "WaterFalls",The Guess Who "American Woman" MJ "Man In The Mirror" just to name a few. It seems to me that somehow the message of yesterday has been lost in the music when it comes to the Artist Of Today. When the Music Industry accept so called Artist calling our daughters whores and hoe's,b****** etc. then something has surely gone wrong! What bothers me most about this is that our young people, our young men and young woman are talking to each other like this living the life as if these not a drop of talent Artist are speaking the truth becoming millionaires off of b******* music that isn't even theirs. When the industry allow music that preaches violence and hate then understand this. You made your bed…
